A Song of Ascents

Psalms 120-134

I'm using my iPad on the back patio in the 80-degree Texas pre-spring to create this post. It's tantamount to my trying to wedge my 6'2" 250-pound carcass into my daughter's Fiat 500. Such devices were designed for those of more delicate proportions.

Anyway.

At church this morning, our pastor spoke about the 15 Psalms pilgrims are said to have recited as they prepared themselves for entering Jerusalem and, ultimately, the Temple. And many, said our pastor, recited each Psalm as they ascended the steps up into the Temple (thus the name). He gave the congregation a challenge-- to recite these Psalms each morning in the coming week. For me, the coming week is my spring break (no more pencils, no more books, no more students dirty looks...at least for 9 days, Alice).

I decided that this would be a great way for me to prepare for my entrance into Jerusalem and, ultimately, to Golgotha. My Lent pilgrimage.
