Annie, John, and Curly: A mixed-up post...

And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. But the LORD God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?” (Genesis 3:8-9 ESV)

God called to him, “Where are you?”

...for a mixed-up world...

We had a dog, Annie, that seemed to think that if she looked away and, therefore, couldn't see who was chiding her, then the same must be true for whoever belonged to the voice she was definitely hearing. Sin makes us act similarly when we become aware that we have behaved in an ungodly way, we try looking away, even though we know God is calling. We try to hide, to make ourselves invisible, pretty much like the kid in the image. We don't have to guess at what behaviors anger, sadden, or, as you read on, even puzzle God... Let's face it, He can see us behind those trees of shame, and He knows darn well we hear Him calling...yet, like Annie, we continue to look away...

Stream senior editor John Zmirak posted a very well written opinion piece that grins at you almost parodiably (I probably could've just used satirically...hmm) before you start to read it. The title alone made me snicker and then kind of grossed me out: There’s a Bearded Trannie in the Stall Next to Your Daughter and You’d Better Learn to Like It. An excerpt:

As I continue to read about the increased disorder in the world today, I can't help but recall Disorder in the Court, the Three Stooges short in which Curly has to take the stand and is being sworn in:

Judge: Why don't you answer him?
Curly: He's talkin' pig Latin! I dunno what he's sayin'!
Judge: He's asking you if you swear...!
Curly: [cuts the judge off] No, but I know all the woids!
Judge: He's asking you if you'll swear to tell the truth.
Curly: Truth is stranger than fiction, Judgie-Wudgle.

The truth really is stranger than fiction (Judgie-Wudgie). It's getting' stranger all the time. 

And God's still calling to Man: “Where are you?”
